As a NZ women in business I am very aware of the balancing act we are constantly challenged with, isn’t it enough with kids, partners, homelife? How does business fit into all this? Somehow we manage it. It is networks like the Venus Network that are a breath of fresh air, we get to meet many like minded women who face the same challenges. Not only is the Venus Network a fantastic support channel for NZ women in business but it has enabled me to fast track my business growth. While I am an avid campaigner for online marketing it is hard to beat the face-to-face meetings and trust relationships that are encouraged by belonging to the Venus Network. So much of my work is referral based with a large percentage of that coming via the Venus Network and Vanessa Davey herself (director of the Venus Network). It has been a great pleasure over the years to work with Vanessa and the collaboration of her recent re-brand was an awesome project. Lionel Taylor from Taylor McAllum created an outstanding new brand, Roly and Lex from Bizhub are responsible for the programming genius behind the membership directory system and huiadesign for the web design and design of online marketing tools. www.venusnetwork.co.nz.
The name huiadesign is a tribute to the ‘Huia’ a now extinct native bird of New Zealand. In Maori culture, only people of high rank wore Huia feathers. In some legends, the Huia was one of the birds attained from the heavens by Tawhaki so that his wife could decorate her hair with its feathers; this celestial origin meant that the feathers of the Huia were treated with the greatest respect. In other traditions, the Huia bird was the leader of the hakuturi, the spirit guardians of the forest.
